Accessibility
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Toronto International Ballet Theatre wants everyone to be able to enjoy our performances. We are committed to treating every guest with dignity and independence, in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
At the theatre:
Our Nutcracker is performed at the Bluma Appel Theatre, St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, 27 Front Street East, Toronto. The venue is operated by TO Live. The details below come from TO Live.
Accessible seating. The Bluma Appel Theatre has dedicated accessible seating in boxes three and six. There is also accessible seating on the orchestra level, reached by an attendant-operated lift in the lower lobby. Other seats suit guests with limited mobility. Accessible seats are for guests with disabilities and their companions.
Booking accessible seats. When you buy, contact the TO Live box office so they can arrange the right seats for you: 416-366-7723 or 1-800-708-6754 (Monday to Friday, 1 pm to 6 pm), or boxoffice@tolive.com.
Getting around the building. The lower lobby of the Bluma Appel Theatre is partially accessible for guests using wheelchairs or other mobility devices. There is no elevator at the St. Lawrence Centre, and the upper lobbies are not accessible. Partially accessible washroom stalls are on the orchestra level.
Assistive devices. Ask at the coat check in the Bluma Appel lower lobby for assistive listening devices, a wheelchair for use in the theatre or a booster seat, first come, first served. Listening devices are free to borrow; they use an FM system, so a receiver you wear picks up the performance sound.
Service animals. Guests with a service animal are welcome. Please mention it when you book so the box office can arrange suitable seats.
Support persons. Guests with a disability are welcome to bring a support person. To arrange a ticket for your support person, contact us at info@torontoballet.ca before you book. Please book together so you are seated side by side.
In an emergency. If you may need help leaving the theatre in an emergency, please tell the box office when you book, email accessibility@tolive.com, or speak to any staff member on the day. In case of an alarm, follow the directions of the theatre staff.
Temporary disruptions. If a service or facility that guests with disabilities rely on is unavailable, we will post a notice on this page with the reason, how long it is expected to last and any alternatives. TO Live posts notices for disruptions in the building.
